Honda is already one of the leaders of the green movement within the automotive industry, but that's not stopping them from continuing to push for more efficient cars. Scheduled for 2012, Honda will be releasing its first plug in hybrid car.
Announced at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Honda EV concept produces no emissions which is obviously expected of an EV car. To be expected, Honda likes to one up the competition and they have done it again with the EV.
Unlike most EVs, the Honda EV will be fitted with a lithium-ion battery and coaxial motor to allow for a 100 mile driving range and a max speed of 90mph. Another distinguishing factor will be the three-mode electric drive system which can also be found on the CR-Z hybrid. With all the added features its not hard to imagine this car becoming popular very quickly.
Based on the same five-passenger layout as the consumer-favorite Honda Fit, press and enthusiasts alike have been referring to the new Honda EV concept as the 'Honda Fit EV concept' or the 'Honda Fit Electric'. It's easy to go there. However, the truth is Honda has not yet announced what the all-new EV should be called, either in concept form or later down the line as a production model.
Mistlin Honda understands that the EV should be available sometime in 2012. To check out all the latest Honda models, including the hybrid cars, come down to Mistlin Honda in Modesto, CA .
